What is the IWCA?

The International Window Cleaning Association is a non-profit trade 501(c)(6) association committed to raising the standards of professionalism within the window cleaning industry. In addition, the IWCA has worked directly with ANSI to establish the ANSI/IWCA I 14.1 Window Cleaning Safety Standard.

The Science & Art of Window Cleaning

Window cleaning is a science and an art. It is a science in that there are objective ways of measuring how effective a window was cleaned and if it was done in a safe manner. It is an art in that it takes a considerable amount of skill to effectively and smoothly clean windows. In a similar way that a skilled artist makes it look easy to paint a mural, someone skilled at window cleaning makes it appear to be easy, when in actuality it can take a considerable amount of time to master. Window cleaning is also a professional trade skill (like an electrician) that takes training, studying, and proficiency to be certified.
